La Fortuna

We hiked to Fortuna Waterfall. It was an impressive 70 meters high, and we swam in the Pena Blanca River below it.
This is not us. We swam in some calmer water down the river.
The small town of La Fortuna is very pretty.

We went hiking with a guide around the rainforest near the volcano. We saw a toucan, and heard howler monkeys which make a loud grunting sound when they want to announce their presence or look for a mate. We watched a group of spider monkeys playing in the trees until they tried to pee on us.

Volcan Arenal is one of the world's most active volcanoes. It last erupted in 1968, and is expected to erupt again any day now.
