Prison Park

 

The guard proudly showed us how the old prison was converted into this grand new park. There were dozens of before/after pictures of the construction as well as a clay model under glass, just in case we couldn't look out the window and see the park for ourselves. Overly cheery music was pumped in through speakers, creating an eerie fake quality to the already creepy park.

 

There was some archaic gym equipment which gave me a workout just trying to figure it out. There was even a skatepark with a few pieces of sheet metal propped up for the local youth to perform jumps. When we walked by, they sent their best skater to perform a few tricks for us, and to our delight, they then clapped for him after each minor attempt.

 

It seems walking about in an orderly fashion is one of the few activities deemed acceptable by the guards.
