Mormon Loop - South Mtn.

It's the largest municipal park in the country.

Unlikely nursery.

I saw a chuckwalla, a rabbit, and lizards.

This is Mormon tea growing behind the cactus. The indians used to make an herbal tea by boiling it.

This loop was about 5 miles.

The teddy bear cholla look soft, but they aren't. I carry a comb just in case I get stuck on their hooks.

A mighty saguaro.

Saguaro skeleton.

Desert varnish is created by rain water and minerals like manganese and iron on rock.
