Sailing the Galápagos

Frigate birds are opportunistic and don't want do anything by themselves. They steal nests from the boobies. They steal fish from other birds. They liked to fly along with our boat and occasionally catch a free ride on the ropes.
There were 5 couples (German, Dutch, Swiss) and us. They were all easy to get along with. When we had nothing else to do, we hung out on the deck and listened to Nancy talk. One night, one of the ladies was telling her husband, Malcolm, not to eat a second piece of cake, and he responded with, "After 40 years of marraige, all you have is cake!"
This strange outcropping on the island of Bartolemé is known as Kinder Rock. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the Americans built a military base and an airport on Baltra. They used this giant piece of volcanic rock as a target for bombing practice.
A pinguino! Galapagos penguins originally came from Chilé, and they have adapted to warmer water. They are very small and can swim 30 miles per hour in the water. They will zip right by and catch tiny fish in their mouth.

Am I the only one reminded of Hawaii here? The Frigate birds, bombings and a giant rock used for target practice? Interesting....
