These tiny tortoises will grow into giant tortoises and will be returned to the wild.
Lonesome George is the last Pinta Island Tortoise. The rest of his species died off when goats were introduced to Pinta Island by sailors. Scientists are hoping that he will mate with two females from a similar species who also live in the habitat. So far, they have mated, but the eggs were not fertilized.
These are two males. The tortoise on the bottom got mad and walked away.
A male saddleback tortoise named Diego was mating with a female. It was a very long process with lots of grunting sounds.
