La Basílica

Old Town, Quito is home to dozens of museums, churches, and historic buildgings. La Basílica is huge, gothic style church that has been in the process of being built since 1992.

The architecture is ornately detailed, and there are animal gargoyles perched up every ledge. Visitors were not allowed to enter the main sanctuary since it was the holy day of "The immaculate heart of Mary."

Our tour of the building began in the nave with all the stained glass windows.

I had no idea Dana was such an excellent organ player.
