Black Turtle Cove

The Galápagos have been a marine reserve since 1986, but there was a lack of enforcement of the rules. In 2000, it became the Galápagos National Park, and now the unique animals and their habitats are finally being protected. We saw lots of sea turtles, a small eagle ray, and many white tipped and black tipped baby sharks.

The blue footed boobies have evolved into skilled divers. They usually dive 2-3 meters into the water to catch small fish and then pop back up and float like ducks. After hitting the water at 30 miles per hour for years, their eyesight eventually becomes poor.
