Durian

 

The durian is a prehistoric looking fruit and is famous for its offensive odor.

 

We couldn't wait to try it. Luckily, we found a woman who cut one up for us.

 

There are large pods that can be easily broken into smaller sections. You pull off a gooey section and eat the fruit around the big seeds in the middle. Although it does smell like my backpacking socks after 3 days, the texture is like custard, and the taste is wonderful and rich! It was more like a desert than a fruit.
