Open Water

 

Beverly and I took scuba diving lessons in preparation for our trip to Panama this summer.

 

This weekend we went to Lake Pleasant for our 5 Open Water dives. Here's Beverly attaching her bcd to her tank.

 

Everybody at El Mar, the dive shop, was friendly and put up with our whining about the cold.

 

Aren't I fabulous in my 7 mm wetsuit and hood? It's as comfortable as it looks.

We met early on Saturday and Sunday.

 

The lake was freezing and murky. Clumps of algae clung to my arms. Loose silt made the visibility about 3 feet, and it was almost totally devoid of any living creatures. I saw 1 fish.

 

Yay! I'm a scuba diver.
