Backpacking

Tahoe and I went backpacking near Blue Ridge on the Barbershop Trail. It is named after a sheep shearer who was also adept at cutting the other ranchers' hair. With all the monsoon rain recently, there were brightly colored muchrooms everywhere.
We hiked in about five miles to Buck Springs.
The trail was marked with cairns and tree blazes, but it was not maintained well, so there were places where the trail would disappear, and I would wander around for a few minutes trying to find the next blaze.
There were lots of small creeks, so I didn't have to tote a bunch of water everywhere. This one is in Dane Canyon.
Tahoe was tired after our hike and his side excursions to chase rabbits and squirrels. He has his own fleece blanket which he carries in his backpack, but he likes to rest his head on my fluffy sleeping bag.
After his nap, he sat outside of the tent for a couple hours to watch for elk or deer.

Canine Wrestling Federation

Cowboy came over for a visit.

They played tug-of-war with a rope toy.

I'm glad they have fun playing together since they will be step-brothers soon.

Guilty Pleasures

Tahoe looks blissful as he chews the big braided bone mom & dad brought for him. He ate the whole thing within two hours.

Cat Drawer

Everyone has a sock drawer and a junk drawer. But do they have a cat drawer? Greta & Boulder think they should.

Kinder Crossing Trail

We hiked this steep trail in the Blue Ridge area of Coconino National Forest.
The trail ended at East Clear Creek. Tahoe prefers the water from streams over the boring water I bring for him.
It was really picturesque with pine and gamble oak trees.

Houston Brothers Trail

We explored the historic Pinchot Cabin site.
We only hiked part of the trail since it was getting dark and cloudy.
This is one of the many animals Tahoe chased. Others included squirrels, rabbits, elk, woodpeckers, and wild turkeys.
We found a great campsite overlooking a wooded valley. The sky opened up, and it looked like God was saying something.
It poured for several hours at night. The lightening was striking all around us, and the ground rumbled every time it thundered. I thought Tahoe might get scared, but he didn't even seem to notice. In the morning, I let him out of the tent, and he wandered around for a couple hours by himself while I was still sleeping. I don't know what he was up to, but he was ready for another nap after it.

It's a date

Cowboy is very excited because we have set a date. We're getting married on April 6th at Ashley Manor in Chandler. The reception will probably be at a mexican restaurant. You are all invited!
