3 Rivers Petroglyphs

Out of the 20,000 petroglyphs which have been identified at this unique site in southern New Mexico, I really liked this simple big horn sheep.
The carvings were made by the Jornada Mogollan people over 600 years ago.
The petroglyphs features a variety of carvings such as animals, geometric shapes, plants, people, masks, and lots of weird designs.
A mile long trail takes hikers (but unfortunately dogs) on a zigzagging path that winds through piles of huge boulders with pictures from the past telling their stories to future generations.

Night 2

We were allowed to backpack one more night on the dunes.

It is the most quiet place on earth, except for the occational missile.

Alkali Trail

At 5 miles, this loop is the Monuments longest trail. It felt like it was 100 degrees, but it was beautiful and desolate.
